The Tekton L-key set features short arms optimized for close access to fasteners, allowing work in tighter spaces with greater control, while the larger sizes are designed with longer keys to increase leverage. The hex keys are precisely manufactured with geometry on the large end of the applicable range to reduce slop in fasteners, and possess two measures of tolerance control—point-to-point and side-to-side—to ensure high dimensional accuracy and consistency. A 20° ball angle on the keys enhances fastener access while maintaining strength. The edges are slightly chamfered, except for the smallest sizes (1.3 mm, 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 0.050 in., 1/16 in., and 5/64 in.), and the top face is smooth to optimize fastener engagement. Made from 8660 nickel chromium molybdenum steel heat-treated to 54-58 HRC, the tools balance hardness without brittleness. Each key features a corrosion-resistant manganese phosphate finish tested by exposure to a 1% saltwater solution for 45 hours following isopropyl alcohol cleaning. Most sizes include clear, high-visibility laser and stamped markings for easy size identification. The set includes a holder designed for quick access, with L-keys organized facing forward and self-aligning key slots uniquely shaped to guide the head of each key into alignment.
