Tolerances are controlled in two ways, from point-to-point and side-to-side, ensuring high dimensional accuracy and consistency. The keys have a 20° ball angle that increases access to fasteners while maintaining strength, and refined edges that are slightly chamfered except for the smallest sizes (1.3 mm, 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 0.050 in., 1/16 in., and 5/64 in.) with a smooth top face for optimized engagement. Constructed from 8660 nickel chromium molybdenum steel heat-treated to 54-58 HRC, the L-keys provide maximum torque strength, consistently exceeding ASME and ISO standards for minimum torsion load and minimum proof torque. The keys are coated with a corrosion-resistant manganese phosphate finish tested by submersion in a 1% saltwater solution for 45 hours after oil removal with isopropyl alcohol. Most keys are marked clearly with both high-visibility laser and stamped markings. The holder is designed for quick access with L-keys organized facing forward, allowing easy removal without disturbing others, and offers low-profile organization with the option to face keys to the side for a flat profile.
