This kit of components is designed to convert 56 through 256T frame stock TEFC motors into fail-safe brakemotors, and it mounts on the fan end of the motor. For 56-184T steel frame motors, the kit includes a Totally Enclosed Stearns AC brake, a replacement cast fan cover, a shaft extension, a fan, and necessary hardware. However, kits for the 213T-256T cast iron frame motors do not include a brake, as they are intended for use with the Stearns 87,000 series brake. Additionally, the kit provides two 1/2" NPT holes with 18" leads for electrical connections. The installation of the brake kit increases the overall length by 5 1/8" for 56 and 143-5T frames, and by 5 7/8" for 182-184T frames.
