Comstar's Copper Lock is an innovative and environmentally safe method for soldering pipes, originally designed for the US space program. This unique product provides an instant bond for copper and brass pipes and fittings without the need for heat or metal solder. It effectively seals all yellow metals, including copper and brass, as well as all refrigerants and liquids. The application process involves applying the adhesive inside the connector and/or onto the pipe to ensure complete coverage around the circumference; within 60 seconds, a permanent leak-proof seal is achieved. Copper Lock is capable of sealing copper pipes up to 2 inches (580 mm) in diameter, with a single 2 oz. bottle able to bond approximately 340 3/8-inch fittings. Its patent-pending formula can withstand pressures of 10,000 PSI flow and 500 PSI contained, and it operates within a temperature range of -60°F to +300°F. Additionally, it allows for water system pressure tests to be conducted in 2 minutes and A/C system pressure tests in 25 minutes. The product can be disassembled at 400°F heat for reapplication. Copper Lock exceeds all US military copper bonding specifications, including MIL-S-46163A Type I Grade K and MIL-S-224723E Letter Grade CVV.
