The Ultra-Drain Guard®, Heavy Metal model, is engineered to effectively remove heavy metal runoff water at storm drains, surpassing standard geotextiles and filter fabrics which cannot eliminate heavy metals. Each section of the unit contains six pounds of a custom blend of filter media specifically designed for heavy metal removal. The specialized catch basin insert features "quilted" sections sewn into its body that facilitate stormwater flow, directing it through the media contained in each section (pouch). The lower portion of the Drain Guard houses this six-pound heavy metal removal media, while an impermeable PVC skirt at the top funnels all incoming water down to the lower section, ensuring it passes through the media prior to entering the storm drain. This system effectively removes hydrocarbons, heavy metals, sediments, and other organics from both stormwater and industrial runoff, assisting in compliance with NPDES, 40 CFR 122.26 (1999), SWPPP, and TMDL requirements.
