The Justrite® 08005 non-metallic vertical drum vent is designed specifically for petroleum-based applications, enabling safe filling and storage of liquids. These drum vents are essential for flammable liquids as they provide venting to alleviate pressure build-up caused by heat and prevent vacuum formation during liquid drainage or sudden cooling. The safety features of the vent are crucial, as either excessive pressure or vacuum can lead to container failure, posing significant risks in the event of a fire. Justrite's safety drum vents automatically relieve pressure for drums between 3 PSI (20 kPa) and less than 8 PSI (55 kPa). Depending on the model, vacuum relief is either automatic for horizontally installed vents or manual for vertically installed ones. The vents have been tested to allow one liter (61 cubic inches) of water to flow through a 3/8" (9.5 mm) pipe nipple in under 6 seconds, and in the closed position, they effectively prevent the escape of flammable vapors. Additionally, all safety drum vents are equipped with a flame arrester for enhanced safety. The product includes a limited warranty of 1 year.
