Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specifically designed for applications that require protection from severe environmental operating conditions. These motors feature a 1.15 service factor, corrosion resistant epoxy finish, regreasable ball bearings, an oversized rotatable cast iron conduit box, Forsheda® shaft seal, moisture resistant copper windings, Class F insulation, stainless steel nameplate, corrosion resistant hardware, and are tropicalized. Typical applications include petro-chemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, chemical plants, and other processing industry applications, particularly in tropical climates where protection against corrosion is essential.
