Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specifically designed for applications requiring protection from harsh environmental operating conditions. These motors feature a 1.15 service factor, corrosion-resistant epoxy finish, regreasable ball bearings, an oversized rotatable cast iron conduit box, a Forsheda® shaft seal, moisture-resistant copper windings, Class F insulation, a stainless steel nameplate, corrosion-resistant hardware, and are tropicalized. Typical applications for these motors include petro-chemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, rock crushers, and chemical plants, as well as processing industry applications requiring resistance to corrosion in severe environments.
