Permanent magnet DC motors are available in power ratings ranging from 1/4 to 2 HP and wound field motors from 1/2 to 3 HP, suitable for Class I, Group D and Class II, Group F & G locations, with listings by both UL and CSA. These motors are designed for applications such as conveyors and mixers in hazardous locations. They feature a TEFC enclosure, are shunt wound, and incorporate Class F insulation. The motors are specifically designed for use with NEMA type K SCR control and provide a 20:1 constant torque speed range, except where noted. NEMA C-face and removable base configurations are standard, except on explosion-proof models, with the base welded on type 3513D only. NEMA 182 and larger models include a thermostat with normally closed contacts on the field winding, while types 35D, 75D, or 91D do not have dual mounting base holes. These motors are suitable for various applications, including conveyors, printing, textile equipment, and machine tools, where variable speeds with constant torque are required.
