Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specifically designed for applications that require protection from severe environmental operating conditions. These motors feature a 1.15 service factor, a corrosion-resistant epoxy finish, regreasable ball bearings, and an oversized rotatable cast iron conduit box. Additional attributes include a Forsheda® shaft seal, moisture-resistant copper windings, Class F insulation, a stainless steel nameplate with corrosion-resistant hardware, and a tropicalized design. Typical applications include petro-chemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, chemical plants, and other processing industries that necessitate protection against corrosion in harsh environments.
