The Proto® 1/4" drive socket features a 1/2" size with a 6-point design and is 7/8" long, making it particularly effective for use on stubborn or damaged fasteners as well as those made from soft materials. This socket utilizes the TorquePlus™ design, a high-performance drive configuration that facilitates quick and easy engagement with the fastener flats rather than the corners. The TorquePlus™ configuration incorporates a radius-corner design which shifts the contact area and stress away from fastener corners, thereby distributing contact stresses over a larger area of the socket to minimize slippage. Additionally, the internal TorquePlus™ design reduces fastener rounding, extends fastener life, and enables users to more easily turn worn, rounded, or rusted fasteners.
