The DeWalt 2-1/4 HP EVS D-Handle Router, model DW618D, features a 12.0 amp electronic variable speed motor with a maximum motor horsepower of 2-1/4 HP, delivering speeds from 8,000 to 24,000 RPM with full feedback control to maintain constant speed under load. It includes a soft start function to reduce start-up torque for enhanced control. The D-handle design incorporates a trigger switch with a lock-on feature. Precision is ensured with a micro-fine depth adjustment ring that allows 1/64" increments and vertical adjustments for a constant switch/cordset location. The steel motor cam lock is adjustable and tool-free for quick, secure depth adjustments and base changes. Quick release motor latches enable fast motor pack removal for bit and base changes, while the detachable cordset offers serviceability and eliminates the need for a "shorty" cord motor pack. The router is equipped with a clear Lexan sub-base for durability, bit visibility, and compatibility with standard template guide bushings. It has a two-position, rubber overmolded handle and a low center of gravity for comfort, balance, and control.
