Rugged carboys are 21 CFR 177.1520 compliant for direct contact with foods and beverages and are USP Class VI certified for the demands of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Ideal for storing and dispensing large batches of culture media, distilled water, and other solutions, they feature excellent chemical resistance and large handles that facilitate transport. The carboys have a 10 liter (2.6 gallon) capacity, with all components constructed from FDA-grade polypropylene. They are steam autoclavable at 121°C (250°F), but it is important to not engage cap threads during autoclaving. The 83 mm screw cap includes a built-in thermo-plastic elastomer washer for a positive seal, and a molded-in bung accepts an easy-to-use spigot, which is located low on the carboy for more complete drainage. The carboys are available with or without a spigot.
