Product Details
The steel kit features a 5% chromium content, making it particularly suitable for punches and dies used in long production runs, as it provides an extended tool life. This steel can produce up to 50% more pieces per sharpening compared to oil hardening steel, and its high wear resistance is beneficial for stamping silicon, stainless steels, Monel metal, and other abrasive materials. The material maintains close dimensional accuracy throughout the heat treating process, and its wide 75-degree hardening range ensures ease of use. Full-length identification is provided to eliminate confusion with other steels. The nominal analysis for AISI A2 includes Carbon at 1.00%, Chromium at 5.25%, Manganese at 0.60%, Molybdenum at 1.00%, Silicon at 0.40%, and Vanadium at 0.25%.
