The 3M™ Cubitron™ II ceramic grain fibre disc quick change 982C has a diameter of 5 inches and is designed for TN 36+ grit applications such as edge beveling, edge chamfering, gate removal, grinding, high-pressure grinding, right angle grinding, weld removal, and finishing in metal fabrication. This product is particularly effective for edge chamfering, beveling, and removing carbon steel welds, mill scale, pits, and imperfections, as well as machining grooves. The proprietary Cubitron™ II technology features 3M's ceramic abrasive grain, utilizing precision shaped grain technology to create triangular grains that are electrostatically oriented on the backing for maximum cutting effectiveness. The sharp peaks of these grains act like individual cutting tools that slice through metal, continuously sharpening as they wear. This unique design allows the grains to wear evenly and self-sharpen, reducing heat generated from friction and providing up to twice the lifespan of traditional fiber discs while requiring less grinding pressure. Consequently, Cubitron™ II discs outperform and outlast conventional ceramic industrial abrasive discs, enhancing productivity and reducing operator fatigue. The discs are equipped with a heavy-duty backing made from vulcanized fiber, which provides resistance to wear and is designed for demanding grinding applications.
