The 3M™ Stikit™ paper disc roll 426U measures 5 inches in diameter with a NH (non-hook) backing and features silicon carbide abrasive at a grit size of 280, containing 175 discs per roll. These discs are designed for high-production environments and are ideal for white wood sanding, sealer sanding, solid surfaces, or applications where a fine finish is critical. The disc incorporates silicon carbide abrasive with a load-resistant coating and an open coat abrasive pattern that minimizes loading by allowing dust and debris to accumulate in the spaces between grains rather than clogging the abrasive surface. The abrasive is fast-cutting and produces a smoother finish compared to aluminum oxide or garnet, making it suitable for finishing hardwoods and solid surfaces. The disc construction consists of A-weight light paper and a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing that allows the disc to flex with the backup pad and conform to contours for consistent finishes. The adhesive holds the disc securely during use and facilitates quick, easy changes for multi-step sanding and finishing processes. These sanding discs are compatible with both rotary and random orbital sanders and are used for general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, prep prior to staining or painting, and bare wood sanding. The open coat design also provides a more aggressive cut for faster results, while the silicon carbide material is a synthetic mineral well-suited for low-pressure tasks such as paint prep and finishing, offering faster breakdown but superior finish quality.
