The 3M™ Stikit™ paper disc roll 426U measures 5 inches and features NH silicon carbide abrasive, with 125 discs per roll. These multiple sanding discs are packaged in a roll designed for convenience and use in high-production environments, ideal for white wood sanding, sealer sanding, solid surface sanding, or applications requiring a fine finish. The discs employ silicon carbide abrasive with a load-resistant coating and an open coat abrasive structure, which together minimize loading by allowing dust and debris to accumulate in the spaces between abrasive grains, thereby extending disc life and maintaining cutting performance. The silicon carbide abrasive, known for fast cutting and producing a smoother finish than aluminum oxide or garnet abrasives, is effective on hardwoods and solid surfaces. Each disc is constructed with A-weight light paper and a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing, allowing the discs to flex with the backup pad and conform to contours for consistent finishes. The PSA backing securely holds the disc during use and enables quick, easy changes for multi-step sanding and finishing processes. These sanding discs are compatible with rotary and random orbital sanders and are suitable for applications including general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, preparation prior to staining or painting, and bare wood sanding. The open coat design also provides a more aggressive cut compared to closed coat abrasives of the same grade. Silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral, is particularly suited for low-pressure applications such as white wood sanding, finishing, and paint preparation; it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide but delivers a superior finish.
