The 3M™ Stikit™ paper disc roll 426U consists of 175 sanding discs measuring 6 inches in diameter, featuring silicon carbide abrasive with a grit size of 220. These discs come in a roll format designed for high-production environments and are ideal for applications such as white wood sanding, sealer sanding, solid surface finishing, and other tasks where a fine finish is critical. The discs utilize a load-resistant coating and open coat abrasive construction to minimize loading, enhancing cutting performance and longevity. Made with A-weight light paper and equipped with a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing, the discs flex with the backup pad to conform to contours, ensuring consistent finishes and secure adhesion for easy disc changes during multi-step sanding or finishing processes. Suitable for use with rotary and random orbital sanders, the discs are intended for general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, and preparation prior to staining or painting, as well as bare wood sanding. Silicon carbide abrasive is selected for its fast-cutting nature and ability to create a smoother finish compared to aluminum oxide or garnet, particularly on hardwoods and solid surfaces. The open coat design spaces abrasive grains to prevent clogging by wood or paint dust, maintaining effectiveness and enabling a more aggressive cut than closed coat abrasives of the same grit. Silicon carbide, while breaking down faster than aluminum oxide, produces a superior finish and is well-suited for low-pressure sanding and finishing tasks.
