The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Fibre Disc 987C TN Quick Change has a 5" diameter and features TN ceramic grain with 36+ grit. It is suitable for use on almost all metals, excelling in stainless steel and nickel alloy applications, and is ideal for weld removal, beveling, removing mill scale, pits, and imperfections. The disc incorporates a grinding aid that helps keep the disc cooler on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals such as nickel alloys and titanium, reducing metal discoloration, oxidation, and the chance of heat-related stress cracks. The abrasive stays cooler and sharper, allowing the disc to last significantly longer than conventional ceramic grain discs, resulting in a lower cost per grind with fewer disc changes. The 3M™ Cubitron™ II precision shaped grain is engineered by forming ceramic abrasive grains into triangular structures that are electrostatically oriented on the backing to create sharp peaks that maximize cutting potential; these peaks slice cleanly through metal rather than gouging or plowing and continuously self-sharpen as points break off, generating a faster cut and less heat build-up. This abrasive also wears evenly and requires less grinding force to achieve superior performance, enabling operators to grind faster and complete more parts per disc with less fatigue.
