The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Flap Disc 967A Giant measures 4-1/2" in diameter with a 5/8-11 thread and features T27 ceramic grain with 60+ grit. It utilizes 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology to deliver superior cut rates combined with the flexibility of flap construction, enabling grinding and blending in a single step. This technology results in exceptionally high cut rates with less pressure, making it suitable for tasks such as weld grinding, deburring, rust removal, edge grinding, and weld seam blending. A heat-activated grinding aid on the disc improves performance on all types of metal, keeping the disc cooler on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals like nickel alloys and titanium, thus reducing metal discoloration, oxidation, and the risk of heat-related stress cracks. The flap disc is constructed with a heavy Y-weight poly-cotton backing, which provides controlled, even wear and prevents premature dulling or glazing, allowing for greater throughput per disc. It is designed for use with right angle grinders; 4-1/2" flap discs require a flap disc adapter nut for attachment, which is sold separately. The 4-1/2" discs have a maximum rotational speed of 13,300 RPM, while the 7" discs have a max RPM of 8,600. The disc type is Type 27, suitable for flat surfaces or outside edge work.
