The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F Giant measures 4-1/2" in diameter with a 5/8-11 arbor and features T29 backing with alumina zirconia abrasive at 80 grit. Designed for tough grinding applications where final finish is important, the disc has overlapping layers of abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps that continually wear away to expose fresh mineral for a fast, consistent cut while providing a blended finish through flap cushioning. The flap disc includes a grinding aid to reduce grinding temperatures, making it suitable for heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Intended for use on right angle grinders, the Giant size has wider flaps than standard discs, offering 25% more abrasive material for a more aggressive cut and longer life. These three-dimensional discs are a one-step alternative to bonded wheels and fiber discs, grinding and finishing in a single operation and generating a finish one grade finer than fiber discs of the same grit. The design allows for flexibility to follow curves and contours with less gouging and improved operator comfort, making it ideal for weld grinding, deburring, rust removal, edge grinding, weld seam blending, blending, edge beveling, finishing, polishing, and right angle metal fabrication grinding.
