The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F Giant is a 7" diameter by 7/8" arbor size T29 style disc featuring alumina zirconia abrasive with 36 grit. Designed for tough grinding applications where final finish is important, the disc's overlapping layers of abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps continually wear away with use to expose fresh abrasive mineral, providing a fast, consistent cut while cushioning the workpiece for a blended finish. These flap discs typically deliver a finish one grade finer than the disc's grit, reducing finishing steps. The disc includes a grinding aid to reduce grinding temperatures, making it suitable for heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Intended for use on a right angle grinder, the Giant size features wider flaps than standard flaps, packed with 25% more abrasive material for a more aggressive cut and longer life. The three-dimensional layered flap construction allows the disc to follow curves and contours easily, delivering less gouging and improved operator comfort. This flap disc is a one-step alternative to bonded wheels and fiber discs, effectively grinding and finishing weld seams, deburring, rust removal, edge grinding, blending, and polishing in metal fabrication.
