The 3M™ Flap Wheel Type 84 747D measures 3" x 1" x 1/4-20 and features an 80 grit ceramic abrasive composed of a proprietary mixed ceramic abrasive blend of aluminum oxide and 3M ceramic grain, designed for toughness, hardness, and long-lasting performance. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend enhances cut-rate and durability, making it suitable for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation, including blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain. The abrasive is bonded with a resin base to a flexible X-weight cotton backing, which resists thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding and provides a tough, flexible surface that conforms to workpieces. The wheel includes a grinding aid for cooler operation on stainless steel and self-cutting flaps that continuously expose sharp abrasive material throughout the wheel’s lifespan, ensuring consistent sanding. This flap wheel is intended for use in metal fabrication and is ideal for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on various metals. It is designed in a spindle-mounted configuration with general purpose aluminum oxide or high-performance ceramic aluminum oxide abrasive grain. Warranty terms are provided with the product.
