The Scotch-Brite™ metal finishing wheel combines conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action to provide uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. This wheel is effective for blending and matching #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel and for creating brushed or satin finishes on items such as cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. It is also used on softer metals like aluminum, copper, and brass to blend out minor surface imperfections and handling marks while providing a decorative finish on products like builder's hardware and plumbing fixtures. Typically utilized on stationary machinery, the wheels are available in diameters from 6 to 16 inches and widths of 1/2 inch and greater. The highly conformable wheel is convolutely wound on a core to ensure smooth operation, aiding in the achievement of professional finishing results. Available grades include CRS and MED, and the wheel uses aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention. Aluminum oxide is compatible with a variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives feature abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating an abrasive system that ensures consistent results throughout the product's life. The open-web material allows for cool operation and load resistance, minimizing clogging and maintaining high cutting performance.
