The Scotch-Brite™ metal finishing wheel combines conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action to provide uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. This metal finishing wheel is effective for blending and matching #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel, as well as creating brushed or satin finishes on items such as cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. It is also used on softer metals like aluminum, copper, and brass to blend out minor surface imperfections and handling marks while achieving the desired decorative finish on products such as builder's hardware and plumbing fixtures. Typically used on stationary machinery, the wheels are available in diameters ranging from 6 to 16 inches and widths of 1/2 inch and greater. The highly conformable wheel is convolutedly wound on a core to run smoothly, helping to create professional finishing results. Available grades include CRS and MED, the wheels utilize aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for a variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives feature a unique combination of abrasives within non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, which delivers consistent results throughout the product's life. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, minimizing clogging of the fibers and maintaining high performance. Applications include blending, finishing, polishing, straight-line brushed finish, and weld cleaning, with relevant industries spanning builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, and plumbing fixtures.
