The 3M™ Flap Wheel Type 83 747D measures 2" x 1" x 1/4" and features a P120 grit ceramic mixed abrasive composed of a proprietary blend of aluminum oxide and 3M ceramic grain, enhancing toughness and hardness for improved performance. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend is designed for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation, offering faster cuts, longer-lasting abrasive life, and superior heat and stress resistance compared to aluminum oxide abrasives. The abrasive mix is bonded to an X-weight cotton backing using a specially formulated resin bond that resists thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding. The flap wheel includes a grinding aid for cooler running on stainless steel, and each flap is flexible to conform to various workpieces, with self-cutting flaps that expose new abrasive material for consistent sanding over the wheel's life. These flap wheels are suitable for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on various metals and come in flange or spindle mounted constructions with either aluminum oxide or 3M ceramic aluminum oxide blend abrasives. Typical applications include blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain in metal fabrication industries.
