The 3M™ flap wheel type 83 747D measures 2-1/2" x 1" x 1/4" and features P120 grit mixed ceramic abrasive. Each flap is covered with a ceramic abrasive mix comprising aluminum oxide blended with 3M ceramic grain, designed through a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness, resulting in a harder, longer-lasting abrasive ideal for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation. The abrasive mix is bonded to an X-weight flexible cotton backing using a resin bond that resists thermal and chemical deterioration during high speed sanding, allowing for faster cuts and higher cut rates. This wheel includes a grinding aid for cooler operation on stainless steel. The self-cutting flaps wear away to expose fresh abrasive material, ensuring consistent sanding throughout the wheel's life. The flap wheel is suitable for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on various metals, and is available in flange mounted and spindle mounted constructions. It is used in applications such as blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain, primarily within metal fabrication industries.
