The 3M™ flap wheel type 83 244D measures 2" x 1" x 1/4" with 120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed as a general-purpose flap wheel delivering consistent finish and uniform cut. It is made of aluminum oxide on a firm, X-weight cloth backing, suitable for a variety of grinding and polishing applications. Aluminum oxide provides a fast cut-rate and long life due to its ability to self-fracture and expose fresh cutting edges, making it tougher and more durable compared to traditional natural abrasives that dull more quickly. The flap wheel is resin bonded for heat resistance and features a straight spindle mount for easy attachment to bench motors, die grinders, and inline sanders. Typical applications include blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain within the metal fabrication industry. The product is long-lasting, fast cutting, and designed for heavy-duty grinding as well as sanding and finishing operations.
