The 3M™ flap wheel type 83 747D measures 1" x 1" x 1/4" and features an 80 grit ceramic abrasive composed of a mixed ceramic blend designed through a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness. This abrasive mix combines aluminum oxide with 3M ceramic grain, resulting in a harder, longer-lasting abrasive ideal for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation, outperforming aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability. The abrasive material is bonded to a flexible X-weight cotton backing using a resin bond engineered to resist thermal and chemical deterioration during high speed sanding, providing a hard bond for faster cuts and higher cut rates. The wheel includes a grinding aid for cooler operation on stainless steel, and its self-cutting flaps wear away to continuously expose fresh abrasive material, ensuring consistent sanding performance throughout its lifespan. Suitable for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on various metals, the flap wheel is available in flange mounted and spindle mounted constructions with either general purpose aluminum oxide or high-performance 3M ceramic aluminum oxide abrasive grain.
