The 3M™ flap wheel type 84 244D measures 3" x 1" x 1/4-20 and features an external 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This general-purpose flap wheel is made of aluminum oxide on a firm X-weight cloth backing, providing a consistent finish and uniform cut in various grinding and polishing applications. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its fast cut-rate, long life, and its ability to self-fracture to expose fresh cutting edges, making it tough and durable. The flap wheel is resin bonded for heat resistance and includes a straight spindle mount for easy attachment to bench motors, die grinders, and inline sanders. Typical applications include blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain, primarily serving industries such as metal fabrication.
