The 3M™ Flap Wheel 741A measures 6" x 2" x 1" and features a 60 grit ceramic abrasive composed of a mixed ceramic abrasive blend. Each flap is covered with a ceramic abrasive mix designed through a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness, combining aluminum oxide with 3M ceramic grain for a harder, longer-lasting abrasive. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend offers superior cut-rate and durability compared to aluminum oxide abrasives, making it ideal for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation. The abrasive mix is bonded to a flexible X-weight polyester/cotton backing using a resin bond that resists thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding, allowing for faster cuts and higher cut rates. The flap wheel design provides self-cutting flaps that wear to expose fresh abrasive material, ensuring consistent sanding throughout the wheel's life. This coated abrasive flap wheel is suitable for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on various metals, with options for flange mounted and spindle mounted constructions.
