The 3M™ flap wheel type 84 747D measures 3" x 1" x 1/4-20 external and features 60 grit mixed ceramic abrasive composed of an aluminum oxide and 3M ceramic grain blend designed for enhanced toughness and hardness. Each flap is coated with this proprietary abrasive mix for increased performance, cutting fast while handling intense heat and stress, ideal for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation. The abrasive is bonded to a flexible X-weight cotton backing with a hard resin bond resistant to thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding, ensuring faster cuts and higher cut rates. The wheel includes a grinding aid for cooler running on stainless steel and uses self-cutting flaps that continuously expose sharp abrasive material, maintaining consistent sanding performance throughout its life.
