The 3M™ Flap Wheel Type 83 747D is a 3" x 1/2" x 1/4" flap wheel featuring a 60 grit ceramic mixed ceramic abrasive, designed for light to moderate stock removal. Each flap is coated with a proprietary ceramic abrasive mix, which combines aluminum oxide with 3M ceramic grain for enhanced toughness and hardness, resulting in a longer-lasting abrasive that excels in cutting and handling intense heat and stress applications. The wheel's construction includes a flexible cotton backing secured with a resin bond, which is engineered to resist thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding, allowing for faster cuts and a higher cut rate. Additionally, a grinding aid is incorporated for cooler running on stainless steel, while the X-weight cotton backing provides a tough yet flexible surface that adapts to various workpieces.
