The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Metal Finishing Wheel MF-WL measures 6" x 1" x 2" and uses aluminum oxide abrasive in a medium grade for consistent abrasive cutting action, providing uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. It is designed to blend and match #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel and create decorative finishes on cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. For softer metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass, it effectively blends out minor surface imperfections and handling marks. Typically used on stationary machinery, these wheels are available in diameters from 6 to 16 inches and widths of 1/2 inch or greater, featuring a convoluted wound core for smooth operation and professional results. The aluminum oxide abrasive is chosen for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for a wide variety of substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, forming an abrasive system that performs consistently throughout the product’s life. The open-web material runs cool and resists loading, maintaining high cut performance by limiting fiber clogging.
