The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ metal finishing wheel MF-WL measures 12" x 5" x 1" and features aluminum oxide in a medium grade abrasive designed to provide uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. It effectively blends and matches #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel and creates brushed or satin finishes on cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. On softer metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass, it blends minor surface imperfections and handling marks while delivering decorative finishes on builder's hardware and plumbing fixtures. The wheel is typically used on stationary machinery and is available in diameters from 6 to 16 inches and widths of 1/2 inch or greater. Constructed as a highly conformable convolutedly wound core, it runs smoothly for professional finishing results and is offered in grades CRS and medium. The aluminum oxide abrasive is known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing on various substrates including ferrous alloys, in woodworking and metalworking applications. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives combine abrasives with non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating a system that delivers consistent performance by using an open-web, load-resistant material that limits clogging, runs cool, and maintains high abrasive cutting efficiency. Typical applications include blending, finishing, polishing, straightline brushed finishes, and weld cleaning.
