The 3M™ PSA Cloth Disc 348D is a 1/2" x NH 80 grit aluminum oxide heavy-duty sanding disc designed for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. It features a high-strength pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing that securely adheres to a backup pad or steel platen, allowing efficient application and clean removal. The disc includes a heat-resistant resin bond and durable cloth backing, enhancing stability and performance under high heat and pressure. The aluminum oxide abrasive particles are arranged in a closed coat pattern, offering a fast cut suitable for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal. This versatile disc is ideal for deburring, blending, cleaning up, and finishing metal parts and various surfaces. The PSA disc is intended to be pressed onto a separately sold backup pad, which attaches to sanders such as disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its toughness, self-fracturing cutting edges, fast cut-rate, low heat retention, and applicability to ferrous alloys as well as woodworking and metalworking materials. Typical applications include blending, deburring, flat area grinding, orbital and random orbital sanding in metal fabrication, primary wood, and panel processing industries.
