The 3M™ PSA Cloth Disc 348D measures 24" and has an 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It is a heavy-duty sanding disc featuring a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that adheres securely to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. The disc incorporates a heat-resistant resin bond and durable cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. The aluminum oxide particles are arranged in a closed coat pattern, providing a fast cut suitable for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal. This versatile disc is effective for deburring, blending, cleaning up, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA backing allows the disc to be pressed onto a backup pad, which is sold separately, and then attached to disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its fast cut-rate, long life, hardness, strength, low heat retention, and self-fracturing capability which exposes fresh cutting edges during use. The heat-resistant resin provides a sturdy bond between the abrasive and backing, maintaining stability even under high heat or pressure. Typical applications include blending, deburring, grinding, flat area finishing, orbital sanding, random orbital sanding, and metal fabrication, with industries served including metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing.
