3M™ PSA Cloth Disc 348D is a heavy-duty sanding disc that features a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing, allowing for efficient application and clean removal when adhered to a backup pad or a steel platen. Designed for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications, it is equipped with a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing. The disc utilizes aluminum oxide particles in a closed coat, providing a fast cut for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal surfaces. This versatile disc is ideal for deburring, blending, cleaning up, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA disc is pressed onto a backup pad (sold separately), which can be connected to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander. Aluminum oxide abrasive is chosen for its fast cut-rate and long life, making it a durable option that self-fractures to reveal fresh cutting edges during use, unlike traditional abrasives such as garnet. This mineral is widely applicable in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The heat-resistant resin binds the abrasive to the backing, ensuring stability under high heat or pressure.
