The 3M™ Wetordry™ paper disc 431Q measuring 8" with NH attachment has a 600 grit silicon carbide abrasive that features extra-fast cutting on a strong, waterproof paper backing designed for superior finishing in both wet and dry applications across various substrates. It is used with water to rinse the work piece and the abrasive surface, preventing dust and debris from clogging the abrasive points, reducing airborne dust, and producing a faster cut. These versatile discs are ideal for surfaces prone to heavy dust generation, such as paint, primer, and wood, while also suitable for dry use on metal and gel coats. The silicon carbide mineral is very hard and fractures easily to create freshly exposed sharp edges for extra-fast cutting and a smooth professional finish, commonly used in low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing on wood and metal. Although it wears faster than aluminum oxide, it delivers a superior finish. The product incorporates 3M's proprietary durable waterproof paper backing, which is lighter and smoother than cloth, making it preferable for lighter applications such as finishing and paint prep.
