The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D is a heavy-duty 16" x NH sanding disc with 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive, featuring a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing for efficient adherence to a backup pad or steel platen and clean removal. It incorporates a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. The closed coat aluminum oxide particles provide a fast cut ideal for grinding and dual action sanding on metal, allowing effective deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing of metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The disc is designed to be pressed onto a backup pad, sold separately, which can be attached to disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. The aluminum oxide abrasive is chosen for its fast cut-rate, long life, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, self-fracturing to expose fresh cutting edges during use, which is beneficial in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The heat-resistant resin ensures the abrasive remains firmly bonded even under conditions of high heat or pressure. This sanding disc is applicable for blending, deburring, flat area sanding, grinding, orbital sanding, and random orbital sanding in metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing industries.
