The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D is a 30" diameter, 40 grit aluminum oxide heavy-duty sanding disc featuring a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing designed to adhere securely to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. It includes a heat-resistant resin bond and a cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications, particularly on metal surfaces. The aluminum oxide particles are arranged in a closed coat pattern, providing a fast cut rate for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding. This versatile disc is ideal for deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The pressure-sensitive adhesive disc is intended to be pressed onto a backup pad, which is sold separately, and used with disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide abrasive was selected for its fast cut rate, long life, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, which make it suitable for woodworking and metalworking applications, including ferrous alloys. The heat-resistant resin ensures the abrasive remains firmly bonded to the cloth backing even under high heat or pressure. Typical applications include blending, deburring, grinding, and orbital sanding in metal fabrication as well as primary wood and panel processing industries.
