The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D measures 1" in diameter with a NH (non-hole) design and features P240 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This heavy-duty sanding disc incorporates a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing that securely adheres to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. It is constructed with a heat-resistant resin bond and a cloth backing, making it suitable for high-heat and heavy-duty sanding tasks. The aluminum oxide abrasive is closed coated to provide a fast cut ideal for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal surfaces. The disc is designed for deburring, blending, cleaning up, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA disc attaches to a backup pad, sold separately, which can then be mounted on disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide is known for its fast cut rate, long life, hardness, strength, and low heat retention and is effective on a variety of materials including ferrous alloys, making it widely used in both woodworking and metalworking applications. The heat-resistant resin securely bonds the abrasive to the cloth backing, maintaining bond stability under high heat and pressure. Typical applications include blending, deburring, grinding, and orbital sanding in metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing industries.
