The 3M™ Hookit™ paper disc 236U is a 5" diameter, NH attachment, P180 grit aluminum oxide abrasive designed for use with a random orbital sander. It features a strong C-weight paper backing that resists tearing and edgewear during aggressive sanding, and the disc is resin-bonded for heat resistance, which enhances both its life and cutting performance. This premium disc offers aggressive cut and long life, suitable for high production sanding and general purpose applications on paint, primer, wood, metal, plastic, and composites including fiberglass. It has an open coat and a load-resistant coating that improves dust management and maintains a high cut rate by preventing clogging from softwoods, paints, and other materials. The open coat design spaces abrasive grains apart to allow dust escape, optimizing cut rate and disc life. The disc uses the Hookit™ attachment system for convenient and firm attachment to hook-and-loop backup disc pads (sold separately), facilitating clean and easy removal and reuse. Typical applications include AOEM finish prep and repair, blending, finishing, orbital sanding, prepping metal prior to painting, cabinetry, custom woodworking and millwork, furniture, metal fabrication, and primary wood and panel processing.
