The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL Unitized Wheel measures 1-1/2" x 1/4" x 1/8" and features fine grit silicon carbide abrasives within a soft, conformable consistency designed to effectively smooth, deburr, and finish edges of metal alloys, plastics, and composites. This unitized wheel is available in a variety of densities ranging from very soft 2 density for conformability to hard, aggressive 8 density for maximum cut and durability. It provides a clean edge without smearing, reducing the need for additional cleanup and preparation, and is optimized for use on a die grinder to minimize heat buildup, making it suitable for heat-sensitive materials. The wheel includes abrasive minerals embedded in non-woven nylon fibers, an open-web material that resists loading and maintains high-performance cutting by limiting fiber clogging. Available abrasives include aluminum oxide in fine, medium, coarse, and extra coarse grades, as well as silicon carbide in very fine and fine grades. Typical applications include blending and deburring in industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
