The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL deburring wheel measures 12" x 2" x 5" with a fin 9S grit silicon carbide abrasive. It features a hard, dense consistency designed to quickly deburr, finish, and polish all types of metals, composites, and glass, leaving a smooth, clean surface. The wheel's conformable nature makes it ideal for deburring stamped or laser-cut parts and finishing after belt sanding. Its convolute construction and uniform wear provide smooth operation and help achieve a professional finish while minimizing operator fatigue. The proprietary Scotch-Brite™ material runs cool, ensuring uniform wear and continuous exposure of fresh abrasives, which makes it suitable for heat-sensitive substrates. The wheel is available with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a synthetic sharp mineral for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster than aluminum oxide, which offers a higher cut rate and longer life. Scotch-Brite™ combines abrasive minerals with non-woven nylon fibers into an open-web material that resists loading and maintains high cutting performance by limiting clogging. Applications include blending, deburring, finishing, flat finishing, and polishing in sectors such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
