The 3M™ Wetordry™ paper disc 431Q measures 12" in diameter with a NH (non-hole) configuration and features 600 grit silicon carbide mineral, known for its extra-fast cutting and ability to fracture easily, exposing sharp edges for a smooth, professional finish. The disc is made with a strong, waterproof paper backing that is durable yet lightweight and smooth, supporting both wet and dry applications on various substrates including paint, primer, wood, metal, and gel coats. When used with water, the disc allows rinsing of the workpiece and abrasive surface to prevent clogging from dust and debris and reduce airborne dust, enhancing cutting speed. It has a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing for easy attachment to a random orbital sander, suitable for high heat and severe sanding applications, with convenient liners to reduce contamination prior to use. The silicon carbide abrasive is suitable for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing on wood and metal, producing a superior finish despite wearing faster than aluminum oxide. The paper backing is designed for lighter finishing and prep tasks, while water usage minimizes dust buildup typical in these operations.
