The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL deburring wheel measures 12" x 1/2" x 5" with a fin 9S grit silicon carbide abrasive. It features a hard, dense consistency designed to quickly deburr, finish, and polish various materials including metals, composites, and glass, leaving a smooth, clean surface. The wheel's conformable characteristic makes it suitable for deburring stamped or laser-cut parts and finishing after belt sanding. Its convolute construction ensures clean, uniform wear, running smoothly while minimizing operator fatigue. The Scotch-Brite™ material runs cool and provides uniform wear by continuously exposing fresh abrasives, making it ideal for heat-sensitive substrates and extending service life. The deburring wheel is available with either silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral offering high cut-rate and long life; silicon carbide breaks down faster but produces a finer finish. Scotch-Brite™ combines abrasives with non-woven nylon fibers, creating a load-resistant, open-web material that maintains high performance by limiting clogging and ensuring consistent results throughout the product's life. Typical applications include blending, deburring, finishing, flat finishing, and polishing in industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
