The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ metal finishing wheel measures 6" x 1" x 1" and features medium 4A grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This wheel combines conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action to provide uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes, effectively blending and matching #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel. It is suitable for creating brushed or satin finishes on cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. On softer metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass, it blends out minor surface imperfections and handling marks while delivering a decorative finish. Typically used on stationary machinery, the wheels are available in diameters ranging from 6 to 16 inches and widths of 1/2 inch or greater. The highly conformable, convolutedly wound core ensures smooth operation and professional finishing results and is available in grade CRS and MED. The aluminum oxide abrasive offers high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it ideal for grinding applications, sanding, and finishing across various substrates, including ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives integrate abrasive minerals into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers to create a unique abrasive system that maintains consistent results throughout the product’s life. An open-web, load-resistant material runs cool to limit clogging, thus sustaining high cutting performance. Applications include blending, finishing, polishing, straight-line brushed finish, and weld cleaning.
