The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ cut and polish unitized wheel measures 2" x 1/4" x 1/4" and features a fine grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This tightly layered, durable wheel is available in medium to hard densities and is designed for aggressive deburring, blending, and finishing on harder metals, especially in applications requiring portability. It serves as an excellent replacement for conventional abrasive products like rubber bonded and small set-up wheels. The wheel’s aluminum oxide mineral is combined with a tough nylon web, creating a uniform, smooth-running, fast-cutting wheel that runs cool and resists loading. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its high cut rate, hardness, strength, durability, and low heat retention; it self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, making it ideal for grinding on a wide variety of substrates including ferrous alloys, woodworking, and metalworking. Scotch-Brite™ abrasives incorporate abrasive minerals into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, resulting in a consistent performance abrasive system with an open-web design that prevents clogging, maintains cool operation, and extends product life, ensuring high cutting performance throughout use.
