The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL Deburring Wheel measures 12" x 1" x 5" and features a medium grit silicon carbide abrasive. It has a hard, dense consistency designed to quickly deburr, finish, and polish various metals, composites, and glass, leaving a smooth, clean surface without smearing to reduce the need for additional cleanup. The wheel's conformable characteristic makes it ideal for deburring stamped or laser-cut parts or finishing after belt sanding. Constructed with convolute layers, it provides clean, uniform wear that ensures smooth operation and a professional finish while minimizing operator fatigue. The Scotch-Brite material runs cool, producing uniform wear and continuously exposing fresh abrasives, suitable for heat-sensitive substrates. The wheel’s toughness extends service life and it is available with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals. Silicon carbide, being sharp and synthetic, is commonly used for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster than aluminum oxide, which offers a higher cut rate and longer life. Scotch-Brite incorporates abrasives into non-woven nylon fibers, creating an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product’s life and is load resistant to limit clogging. Applications include blending, deburring, finishing, flat finishing, and polishing in industries such as builders hardware and medical instruments, as well as metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
